"We may have lost our sight, but we have not lost our VISION."
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Blind Ambitions Groups is to educate the blind and visually impaired and their families about available resources, and to encourage each individual to move to the next step, whatever it may be.
PURPOSE
Through support, we teach blind and visually impaired individuals to advocate for themselves in getting what they need to facilitate a better quality of life.
The goals of Blind Ambitions Groups include:
Learning where the individual is newly blind, blind all their life, or somewhere in between - and where they want to go and how we can assist them in getting there;
Educating both the blind and sighted about the capabilities of blind;
Providing opportunities to participate in group events, as well as events in their own communities;
Assisting sighted family members of those individuals recently blinded with their own adjustments to make the transition smoother for the entire family;
Cooperating with the public and private sector for other resources (mobility, technology, independent living, etc);
Preparing the blind for employment through job readiness training and job placement services.
Words of Welcome from Mark Marvel
Welcome to the Blind Ambitions Groups web site. Here you will find information for the blind, visually impaired, family members and friends, and others to help you understand blindness a little, or a lot, better. You will find links to articles, tips, training, support group meetings and many other topics specifically for the blind. You will also find places to chat on group lists and listen to three radio shows for the blind that deal with life issues , employment, and technology. I have been blind for eight years and have been blessed to have friends, family and associates assist me along the path to independence. Blindness and visual impairments are not the end of the world for you or your family so don't live like it is. I encourage you to live life to the fullest. Over ten million people in the United States and over forty million people around the world are blind or visually impaired. We may not be able to help your eye condition, so we help you get your VISION back in a very different way. I remind you of our motto at the Blind Ambitions Groups: “We may have lost our sight, but we have not lost our VISION!”.

A Statement from the Summit
"Through teamwork, I became the first blind climber to reach the top of the world. Even more special is that 19 of my teammates stood on top with me - a world record - the most from one team to reach the summit of Mount Everest in a single day. When you work with the Blind Ambitions Groups team, YOU also can reach the top of what ever you commit yourself to."
